In Google Analytics, you have the possibility to configure your account to customize your data analysis. For example, you can create Goals, Segments, etc that filters the data to give you specific insights. These type of configurations are called assets, and the following ones can be shared:
- Custom Segments
- Custom Channel Groupings
- Custom Attribution Models and
- Custom Reports
NOTE that you need Edit Permissions to be able to share assets.
When you share an asset, only the configuration is copied and shared. None of your Google Analytics account data or personal information is shared.
Let’s go through the steps on how to share assets:
Sign in your Google Analytics account and click on “Admin”:
Select the view you have the asset stored and click on “Share Assets”:
On a previous article, we created a goal called “User Engagement” and as Goals are shareable assets, you find it here. Click on the goal: “Share asset” and click on “Share”: NOTE: You need to check the asset first and then the share button will be enabled.
Now you will be presented with two options:
- Share a link of your property
- Share it using the solutions gallery
If you share it by a template link, you will get the link on a new pop up window. Copy the link and email it to somebody:
Otherwise, share it in the Google Solution Gallery.
