Google will classify the traffic as Organic search when it came from unpaid search on any search engine.
Google Analytics filters traffic to this channel when:
- Medium exactly matches organic
Unrecognized Search Engines
When a user visits your site from a search engine most of the times, Google Analytics recognizes it and classifies it as Organic Search in the Traffic Reports. But if the search engine has not yet been added to the official search engine list, the traffic will be classified as Referral instead.
Direct Traffic being classified as Organic Search
If your user comes to your site by writing your company name or website address on a search engine instead of writing it directly in the browser, Google analytics will classify the search as organic traffic, when it should be classify as direct traffic . Your customers already know you and are trying to access your site directly.
