A Funnel is a set of pages that a user has to follow to perform a certain action on your site.
Whether people are attempting to sign up for your online service, or purchase a product from your website, there will be a certain number of steps they will have to take in order to accomplish the task.
Funnels help us see this process (or processes) easily, by giving us a visual representation of the conversion data between each step.
In the Conversions Report > Goals >Funnel Visualization, you can graphically see the funnels you have set up:
Google Analytics allows you to indicate up to ten pages in each funnel definition. Creating funnels can show you where visitors abandon the process during the path to conversion.
For example, a typical funnel for a registration page is:
- Page 1: Select membership level;
- Page2: Enter Personal Details;
- Page 3: Welcome Page.
Important! You can’t create a funnel in Google Analytics without first setting up a goal.
