Display advertising is graphical advertising that appears next to content on web pages, IM applications, email, etc.
These ads, often referred to as banners can include text, logos, pictures, or more recently, rich media.
Rich media, synonymous for interactive multimedia, is enhanced media that utilizes a combination of text, audio, still images, animation, video, and interactivity content for active participation from the recipient of the ad.
Interactions with a medium of “display”, or “cpm”. Also includes AdWords interactions with ad distribution network set to “content” but excluding ad format of “text”.
Google Analytics filters traffic to this channel when:
- Medium matches regex ^(display|cpm|banner)$ OR
- Ad Distribution Network exactly matches Content AND
- Ad Format does not exactly match Text
